New Mondo

New Mondo is the production group of acclaimed San Francisco DJ/Producers, DJ MFR and Vincent Kwok. Both are transplants to San Francisco but they have long called the Fog City home.
The New Mondo moniker was coined as representation of what the pair of producers hoped to accomplish, a new world and style of music collaboration. Coming together in 2001, the pair’s initial output encompassed dark, twisted, big room affairs, providing a contrast to the soulful, deep house sound that each were producing individually.
When not collaborating together, these two stalwarts of the San Francisco scene also have celebrated solo careers; DJ MFR (or Marco From Rome) runs the respected Transport Recordings label which he launched with partner Miguel Migs in 1998. Turning to producing, DJ MFR has had numerous singles released on labels such as Tilted, Bluem, Soulstar, Siesta, Dae, Souvant, including his own Transport labels. These releases eventually led to his debut album, the highly acclaimed “Rome Departure” in 2005 which was part of the selection of CDs of the Year by IDJ Magazine.
In the meantime, Vincent Kwok’s production output has included some seminal cuts by himself with vocalist D’Layna. He has also worked with legendary house names such as Arnold Jarvis and Benji Candelario. Vincent’s smooth and soulful productions have earned praise from DJs around the globe, keeping him at the front of many record boxes, while his output also includes remixes of a wide range of artists from the commercial (eg Usher and Kenny Lattimore) to the underground (eg Physics, Soularis, Deepswing).
